“Skull Still Life”
This piece was created during my second year with Mr. Deloney and marked a turning point in my artistic journey. I vividly remember seeing my work displayed on the wall, something I had longed for as I watched older students’ pieces get shown. It was finally my turn, and the validation felt like a milestone.
During this time, I was experimenting with mixed media techniques, adding layers such as newspaper to the canvas. The use of these materials would later influence many of my subsequent works, adding depth and texture that reflected my evolving creative process. This piece encapsulates that period of growth, both as an artist and in terms of my self-expression.
